Happy Happy Halloween

The day is finally here!

As my blog title says, I love 'living life' and having fun!  I am definetly a big kid and halloween is a time that I think let's your inner child come out to play!!.  Although I think my inner child comes out to play way too much sometimes (future blog to come: Dustin and I playing on a kids playground one afternoon).  Even if you are a poised, cool, collected individual (which I certainly am not, ha ha), Halloween let's you be who ever you want to be and just let loose and have fun!!

I usually start my costume planning several months in advance.  One reason being is for several years, I've sewn my own costume and considering I'm no professional seamstress - it takes me quite a while.  I thought I'd go through my halloween picture collection of the last few years to share with you some of my costumes.  Recent years have been more of a 'throw my costume together the week before'.

(On the left) Last year there was a group of us that went as farm anaimals.  I was the sheep.  There was also a chicken, donkey, pig and the farmer was missing.  This picture doesn't show my outfit very well, but I had a dress made of cotton batting.  (On the right) I'm a cave women.  I had to laugh, that year there were quite a few ladies dressed as cave women or Pebbles.  They were all cute, and pretty and dolled right up.  I took it to a whole new level with crazy, wild, teased hair, blacked out teeth, dirt all over my body and a cow rib that I carried around.

(Left) Bar wench - probably one of my most favorite costumes I've made.  (Right) Pregnant hillbilly - and I actually had a bartender ask me if I was really pregnant when I ordered a beer.....ya, and this baby I'm shaking on the dance floor is real too!?!??!?!?

(Left) 70's Chick - complete with a real hair piece my aunt used to wear.  (Right) Chiquita Banana - I quite love how this outfit that I made turned out.  Except that fruit headpiece was a pain in the a$$ to keep on.

(Left) Another 70's chick.  (Right) Geisha - this is also one of my favorite outfits I made, although the white makeup was kinda itchy.

Stay tuned for this years pictures.  I am so excited because I'm going to 2 halloween parties this weekend so of course figured that was an excuse to have 2 different costumes.

Hopefully in the next few years to come I can get back to sewing costumes as I still have patters for a Flapper girl and a Fairy!

Happy Halloween Everyone!
Let your inner child out!
